Step 1: Hold the hook in your dominant hand, keeping the barb pointed up.
Hold the end of the yarn in your other hand between the thumb and forefinger.

Step 2: Insert the hook in the linen burlap to reach the yarn held underneath the linen burlap foundation.
Always pull up the end of the yarn. Insert the hook in the next hole and pull up a yarn loop to 1/4" high.
Continue pulling up loops in about every other hole to avoid packing in too much yarn.
When you come to the end of the yarn, pull it up to the top. Begin the next end in the same hole.

Step 3: Cut ends even with the loop height.

Step 4: Outline each shape and then fill it in.

Step 5: Fill in each shape following the directional lines of any details.
